Apple Cider Margaritas (or Mocktails)

Apple Cider Margaritas (or Mocktails)

If you need a festive fall cocktail for your next gathering, we've got the perfect batch cocktail for you. Even better, the mocktail version is out of this world tasty too!! Either way you play it, these apple cider margaritas are key to easy hosting this fall!

For the Cinnamon Simple Syrup:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • ½ cup of water

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • Pinch of ground cinnamon

For the Apple Cider Margaritas:

  • 3 cups apple cider

  • 2 limes, juiced + wedges for the rim

  • ¼ cup simple syrup

  • 8 oz silver tequila, you can also use mezcal for a smokier touch (omit for mocktail version)

  • 2 oz orange liqueur (omit for mocktail version)

  • ¼ cup of granulated sugar

  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

  • Thinly sliced apple for garnish

  • Cinnamon sticks for garnish

Method:

  1. To make the simple syrup, add the sugar, water, cinnamon sticks and a pinch of ground cinnamon to a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved fully, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool.

  2. Next, add the apple cider, lime juice and simple syrup to a large pitcher. Give it a good stir then add the tequila and orange liqueur (if using) and stir again. Store in the fridge until ready to serve. This can be made up to a day ahead.

  3. When ready to serve, pour the cinnamon and sugar onto a small plate and carefully mix. Slice a lime wedge and rub it along the rims of 4 cocktail glasses. Next, roll the edges of the glasses in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat the rims. Carefully, fill each glass with ice and distribute the margarita batch between the 4 glasses (for mocktail version: top with ginger beer). Garnish with apple slices and cinnamon sticks.
